Spider
veins are small cluster of veins in the legs that most commonly appear on the
thighs, calves and ankles. They are different from vericose veins. Spider veins
can be treated in the office by injecting a saline solution that causes the
veins to collapse and fade within a few weeks of treatment.
To remove excess skin
and fat tissue from the abdomen, patients can undergo a tummy tuck or
abdominoplasty. The goal is to flatten the abdomen by removing the excess skin
and fat tissue, and tighten the supporting layer of the abdominal wall.
Liposuction is used to remove inches from a bothersome
or bulging area of the body that diet and exercise will not correct. Liposuction is
performed by inserting a small cannula that injects a fluid to break up the fat, and
suctioning the fat out at the same time. Liposuction can be performed on
the thighs, knees, arms, neck, back, buttocks, and abdomen to flatten, smooth
and contour.
Breast
augmentation is performed to enlarge a persons breast size or for reconstruction
purposes after cancer. Silicone or Saline filled implants are inserted to enlarge
the breast and give you a shapelier figure.
A breast
reduction is performed on patients who have overly large, hanging breasts. The
procedure is usually covered by insurance. By undergoing a breast reduction,
patients will be relieved of the backaches, headaches, and other problems
associated with overly large breasts.
Facelifts are performed to remove
the excess skin from around the cheeks, jaw-line, and neck. It is performed by
making incisions above the hairline at the temples and follows the natural line
in front of the ear and curves up behind the ear. This will allow the surgeon to
remove the excess skin and gives the patient a firmer look. Facelifts are
usually performed in conjunction with a brow lift to lift the eyebrows and
remove the wrinkles of the forehead.
Browlifts are performed to
remove excess wrinkles of the forehead that make a person look as though they
are worried, tired, or frowning. An incision is made about 1 inch into the hairline
or scalp that allows the surgeon to remove the skin. The result is a more smooth and
younger appearance, and is usually performed in conjunction with the
facelift.
People who suffer from
puffiness under the eyes, “bags” under the eyes, or dropping upper eyelids,
can undergo a blepharoplasty that will help eliminate those problems and give them a fresh,
rested appearance. Blepharoplasty can be performed alone or can be performed
along with the facelift for an over all younger appearance.
If a patient has a
large dorsal hump or a nose too large for the face, undergoing a rhinoplasty can
provide a more natural, even appearance to the face. Incisions are made either on the inside or
the outside, depending on the needs of the patient. The shape and the angle of
the tip can also be modified. An external splint is shaped to the nose and worn
to help shape the bridge of the nose.
Patients who have ears
that are too large or stick out, can undergo an otoplasty. This procedure is done by
removing excess tissue from the back on the ear, which brings the ears closer to the
patients’ head, thus reducing the prominent appearance.
